Logging Racer Times

Once your station is set up, you're ready to begin logging racer times. TRacer is designed to make this fast, accurate, and easy to correct if needed.

Reminder:

⚠️ Make sure you've selected the correct station before entering times!

⏰ Adding a Time In or Time Out

After selecting your event and station, you land on the Records page. You can log current times directly from the Records page, or open the Keypad sheet when you need to type a specific time.

📋 Log a current time from the Records page

Use the Records page when a racer is arriving or leaving now.

  1. Find the racer's bib number on the Records page.
  2. Tap the ➕ button in the Time In column to log a Time In, or tap the ➕ button in the Time Out column to log a Time Out.

TRacer records the current time and updates the list.

TIP

On wide screens, you can turn on split screen in settings. Split screen adds another Records table column, and each column can use its own filter. For example, one column can show Expecting while another shows In Station.

🧭 Enter a specific time with the Keypad sheet

Use the Keypad sheet when you need to type a specific time, copy times from paper, or prefer entering bib numbers manually.

  1. Tap Keypad in the bottom bar.
  2. Type a bib number and tap Next.
  3. Enter Time In, then tap Save Time In.
  4. Enter Time Out, then tap Save Time Out.
  5. Continue with the next bib number.

Shortcuts and settings

  • Auto Time In / Auto Time Out buttons to log the current time instantly
  • Time in only input and Time out only input settings when only one time type is being logged
  • Option to use a dialpad-style keypad instead of standard 10-key layout

🔎 Review records

The Records page helps you review existing entries and find racers by status:

  • Filter racers by All, DNF, Expecting, In Station, Not Transmitted, Recent, or Transmitted
  • Use the Time In and Time Out columns to log or edit times
  • If a time is missing, tap the ➕ button in that column to add the current time
  • If a time is already logged, tap the pencil icon next to the time to edit it

The Expecting filter shows known bib numbers that do not already have a Time In or Time Out at your selected station.

At the start station, the Records page only shows Time Out entries. At the finish station, it only shows Time In entries. Other stations can use Time in only input or Time out only input settings when only one time type is needed.

🛠 Editing or Fixing Entries

You can edit racer times from either the Records page or the Keypad sheet.

🗂 Records page

Use the Records page when the bib number is visible or easy to find.

  1. Find the racer in the list.
  2. Tap the edit button or the existing time entry.
  3. Adjust the Time In or Time Out in the dialog.

✏️ Keypad sheet

Use the Keypad sheet when you prefer to type the bib number.

  1. Type the bib number of the racer you want to edit
  2. Tap Next
  3. The previously entered Time In will be pre-filled and ready to adjust
  4. Tap Save Time In
  5. The previously entered Time Out will be pre-filled and ready to adjust
  6. Tap Save Time Out to complete editing and return to the bib entry step

This is especially handy for fixing records when entering a batch of data from paper.

🚫 Marking as Did Not Start

DNS means Did Not Start. Use this when a participant never started the race.

  1. On the Records page, filter to All if you do not see the bib number you need.
  2. Select the bib number or numbers.
  3. Tap DNS.

You can select multiple participants and mark them DNS at the same time.

🚫 Marking as Did Not Finish

DNF means Did Not Finish. Use this when a participant started the race but dropped before finishing.

  1. On the Records page, filter to All if you do not see the bib number you need.
  2. Select the bib number or numbers.
  3. Tap DNF.
  4. Choose a DNF reason.

The built-in DNF reason options are:

  • Equipment
  • Medical
  • Personal
  • Time cutoff
  • Weather
  • Custom...

Choose Custom... when you need to type a different reason.

✅ Verify entries

After saving a time, DNS, or DNF, check that the record changed in the list.
